Is it really free?

Yes, our first versions up to v3.0.0 will always be free for life, just head over to our downloads page.

Where are my AWS credentials stored?

Your AWS credentials are stored encrypted in a small JSON file on your local disk, It never leaves your system and we will never ask for them.

Does SearchS3 ever "call home"? Is any data or telemetry sent to searchs3.com?

Never, SearchS3 is designed to live on your machine, The only external calls that the application makes is through the AWS .NET SDK.

Which endpoints does SearchS3 use?

Most of the external calls will go through these aws endpoints.

Why should I use SearchS3 over CyberDuck, or S3Browser?

SearchS3 was created specifically to cater to folks who have a need to search their S3 buckets beyond just a prefix search and do not require something more robust such as AWS Athena, DynamoDB, RDS, or ElasticSearch / CloudSearch.

Besides the cost and management costs of the services just mentioned, we were looking for something lightweight that did exactly what we needed to, so we built it.
